Athenaeum Center Fall 2026 Season Takes Shape
Following a year of growth, the Athenaeum Center Fall 2026 Season marks a new clarity in the work of Athenaeum Center Theatre.
The recent U.S. debut of Bernadette, The Musical, alongside the continued development of new and original productions, has helped define a path forward. What began as a vision is taking on form, both on stage and in the life of the institution.
This fall builds on that momentum. It is not a departure, but a continuation, an unfolding of what is already being shaped.

A House Formed by Dante
High above the stage, a quiet detail has shaped this space for years.
Inside the Historic Main Stage, built in 1911, the proscenium features a depiction of Dante and Beatrice that crowns the theatre.
It is easy to overlook at first. But once seen, it reframes the space.
For years, it has quietly guided the work presented here. It reflects a belief that stories do more than entertain. They accompany. They illuminate. They lead.
This season, that influence comes into focus.

At the edge of the abyss stands a poet and a guide.
Created and co-written by Executive Director Lawrence Daufenbach with Dr. Elizabeth Lev, Dante 360 was the first production produced by Athenaeum Center Theatre. Now returning for its fifth staging, the work continues to evolve as a bold, multimedia journey through The Divine Comedy.
With Virgil leading the way, audiences descend through the circles of Hell and ascend the terraces of Purgatory, where justice and mercy shape every step. What begins in darkness moves steadily toward revelation.
Immersive and immediate, Dante 360 brings Dante’s vision into the present, not as distant literature, but as a lived encounter.

Even the smallest light can outshine the longest night.
Returning for its fourth holiday season, It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is staged as a 1940s broadcast, complete with vintage microphones, live foley effects, and an ensemble cast creating the world of Bedford Falls in real time.
When George Bailey reaches a breaking point, he is met by a quiet guide named Clarence, who reveals the unseen weight and beauty of his life.
It is a story not of greatness, but of belonging, of how a life, woven into others, becomes a source of grace.

A Broader Path for the Athenaeum Center Fall 2026 Season
This fall season is anchored by these two productions, but it extends beyond them.
Additional programs in music, poetry, and film will explore questions of vocation, legacy, and cultural memory. Together, they deepen the work of the Athenaeum Center Fall 2026 season and open new avenues for reflection and conversation.
Subscribers will receive early access and first notice as these events are announced.
Art That Guides. Beauty That Leads.
The Athenaeum Center Fall 2026 season brings into focus a central belief: that the stage is more than a place for performance.
It is a place for attention, for encounter, and for the slow formation of imagination and culture.
This season gives that belief concrete shape.
In Dante 360, we journey through shadow toward revelation.
In It’s a Wonderful Life, we are reminded that even the smallest light restores hope.
Together, these works invite us to listen carefully, to think seriously, and to walk with guides who lead us toward what endures.
