Honoring the Founding Members of the Athenaeum Center

Badge with red background and gold text that says "Athenaeum Center Founder"

Athenaeum Center for Thought & Culture is committed to thoughtfully and joyfully engaging the community, creating and promoting beauty in its diversity of forms, and inspiring people to seek answers to life’s deepest questions.

During the Athenaeum Center’s inaugural years, a remarkable group of donors chose to invest in that vision from its beginning. Their generosity helped establish the foundation for the artistic, cultural, and civic life that continues to grow here today.

The Founder’s Club was created to recognize these early supporters and their lasting commitment to the Athenaeum Center. Membership in the Founder’s Club is now closed, but the impact of its members will remain part of the Athenaeum Center in perpetuity.

The Athenaeum Center is committed to bringing more art and more beauty into the world because we think these things make human life richer. Beauty moves the whole human person, connects us with others who are sharing the experience, and brings us to greater knowledge of reality.

Beauty is the visible form of the good.

With Our Gratitude

Our Founder’s Club members believed in what the Athenaeum Center could become and helped make that future possible.

Their support strengthened our programming, sustained our operations, contributed to the restoration and improvement of our historic home, expanded accessibility, and helped create a place where audiences can encounter art, ideas, community, and beauty.

We are deeply grateful to every member of the Founder’s Club for taking part in this formative chapter of the Athenaeum Center.

How their support makes a difference

  • Supported the curation of performances and events that invite people to pursue the beautiful, the true, the good, and the interesting
  • Made restoration and renovation efforts possible, helping ensure our historic home reflects our mission of inviting people to encounter beauty
  • Helped improve accessibility and welcome more people into the Athenaeum Center
  • Provided essential support for the operations and growth of the organization

Dante 360

Midway upon the journey of our life, I found myself within a forest dark, for the straightforward pathway had been lost.”

And so we all begin—in darkness.

Join Dante on his most famous journey through the depths of hell, levels upon levels of purgatory, finally discovering the light and glory of paradise. You will find terror in the wild beasts he meets along the way; and only moments later great hope at the strong woman, Beatrice, who leads him always upwards.

This contemporary staged performances of one of the most epic stories of the western world is an immersive, multi-dimensional production that leads you into Dantes universe. Returning to the stage for the 4th year, this year’s production.

Its heaven. It’s hell. But above all, it’s worth the trip.
