Curtis Powell

Playwright, composer, actor, and author, Curtis is thrilled to be returning to the Athenaeum stage after his recent performance in Dante 360. Curtis received his MA from Northwestern University in Interpretation/Performance Studies where he studied acting with Frank Galati and Shakespeare with Wallace Bacon. He has composed six full-length musicals, four produced in Chicago, written several plays as a Chicago Dramatists network playwright, and created sound designs for a wide variety of productions in Chicago, New York, Texas, Iowa, California, and D.C. Curtis is an active member of the Dramatists Guild of America and lives in Printer’s Row with his artist/storyteller wife Scottie Kersta-Wilson.
