About the Show

Alyssa Allgood is a 2X DownBeat Magazine Critics Poll “Rising Star Female Vocalist” who has captured attention for her dynamic vocal command and sophisticated songwriting. She blends soulful storytelling and rich improvisational language through original compositions, captivating arrangements and a lyrical focus of self-love and human connection. DownBeat Magazine has praised her “boldness, swagger, and surefooted musicianship” while the New York City Jazz Record has recognized her “force, clarity and jazz integrity.” Allgood won the Inaugural Ella Fitzgerald Competition, and was voted “Best Individual Jazz Musician” in the 2024 Chicago Reader Poll. Her compositions have been selected as finalists in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the International Songwriting Competition. Allgood is thrilled to present an uplifting program of original music and jazz standards for her Athenaeum Center debut.
