Jeff Tweedy’s songwriting has woven itself tightly into the lives of his fans around the world. In his newest book, World Within a Song: Music That Changed My Life and Life That Changed My Music, the longtime Chicago musician reflects on 50 songs that have inspired his own work with Wilco, Uncle Tupelo, and as a solo artist.
He will be joined by Peter Sagal, host of NPR’s “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me”, for an intimate conversation about the transportive power of music with a few acoustic performances by Tweedy, portraying his vast and revered catalog.

Jeff Tweedy:
As the founding member and leader of the Grammy Award-winning American rock band Wilco, and before that the cofounder of the alt‐country band Uncle Tupelo, Jeff Tweedy is one of contemporary music’s most accomplished songwriters, musicians, and performers. Jeff has released two solo albums, written original songs for eleven Wilco albums, and is the author of the New York Times bestsellers Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back): A Memoir of Recording and Discording with Wilco, Etc. and How to Write One Song. He lives in Chicago with his family.
Peter Sagal:
Peter Sagal is the host of the Peabody Award-winning NPR news quiz Wait Wait . . . Don’t Tell Me!, now in its 26th year, and is the author of The Incomplete Book of Running and The Book of Vice: Naughty Things and How To Do Them. He is a playwright, screenwriter, an amateur athlete, and host of several podcasts and documentaries, including The Chernobyl Podcast from HBO and Constitution USA with Peter Sagal on PBS. Sagal lives in the Chicago area with his wife Mara, sons Elliott and Theodore, and Dutchie the Dog, who likes to see her name in print.
