On the Spot Theatre Company brings their entertaining brand of comedic drama to the Athenaeum Center: A Restoration Comedy, the world premiere of a new contemporary play about mother/daughter art restorers and intrigue over an old painting. When Lord Reginald Addlestone arrives in Chicago with an heirloom work from the Restoration, all manner of havoc breaks loose. Reggie’s fiancé, Tabitha, herself a scion of the pearly Queens and Kings of the East End, does her best to support his royally unsettled aspirations. Meet the mutually devoted, but generationally divided, Becky and Bea, and their respective boyfriends, young Artie with his head in the i-Cloud, and the lawyer/accountant, Stanley, with his own double vision. Find out what happens when a crisis summons a suspicious police detective into the studio just as a mysterious figure also suddenly appears. Love and marriage are at stake. The tantalizing possibilities of the past, should they be conserved or made new? And, what is truly noble or real? Join On The Spot Theatre this summer to find out!

Dante 360

Midway upon the journey of our life, I found myself within a forest dark, for the straightforward pathway had been lost.”

And so we all begin—in darkness.

Join Dante on his most famous journey through the depths of hell, levels upon levels of purgatory, finally discovering the light and glory of paradise. You will find terror in the wild beasts he meets along the way; and only moments later great hope at the strong woman, Beatrice, who leads him always upwards.

This contemporary staged performances of one of the most epic stories of the western world is an immersive, multi-dimensional production that leads you into Dantes universe. Returning to the stage for the 4th year, this year’s production.

Its heaven. It’s hell. But above all, it’s worth the trip.
